Flickers of Restlessness

poem
Staring in one direction long enough
You become the center of attention
For the impasse of someoning flutters
Challenges the needy peripheral
Wanted to be accounted for by those not counting
They tap in awkwardly at any surface
Trying to finger the sleep away from the lids
Desire a striking novelty
At the right volume it can wake you up
At least, it’s making you restless
